You might not be able to connect to RustWorks right now. A message from Multiplay (the server provider) says,
We are aware of a connection issue with our Rust Experimental servers.
When connecting to a Rust Experimental/Oxide server the user will recieve the ‘Steam Auth Failed’ error message.The Facepunch devs are aware of this issue and are working to push a fix for this tomorrow which should fix this.
If you have any questions or issues please submit a ticket to our support team.
We do apologize for the increased delay in replying to your tickets.”

Hey guys,
The Oxide mod for Rust has been updated, because of that, Multiplay (server host) is having some technical difficulties. They posted this today,
We are currently experiencing a technical issue with the latest Rust Experimental Oxide update. Our technical team is working hard to resolve this issue and bring our servers back online.
As soon as these issues are resolved, we will make sure the server is up and running.

Hey guys!
So we’ve been considering switching the server to Legacy since the experimental server hasn’t been getting much traffic. This makes sense, right now there’s not much to do on Experimental. If we were to switch, everything about the Experimental server would be saved, and it could be switched back to it whenever (maybe when they implement some of the stuff they mention in the latest devblog).
Still thinking it over, if you have any comments, let us know.

The server was wiped today due to Rust being updated.
Here’s what they’ve done,
02-01-2015
– Tidied NPC profiling.
– NPC now briefly stop thinking and moving while they eat.
– Merged changes from main.
– NPC now set animation state when making decisions.
– Changed the animals to use 1 state variable, instead of separate variables for sleeping / eating / tired / etc..
– NPC now send an animation state property across the network.
– Gave many of the animal classes a more generic name.
01-01-2015
– Fixed a bug w/ rifle shell casing model.
– Some animations for the ak47 view model.
– First pass at Thompson sounds.

Hey,
I know I said no wipe was required, but the world has become kind of glitchy and crowded. I’m going to wipe the server, and since I know the correct coding for plugins now, I should be able to avoid the problems I had the first time around.

Doubled the server’s memory and I contacted support, I will not have to wipe the server or change any of the settings! But I do want to make it clear so it does not come as a surprise to anyone,
Whenever Rust is updated, the server has to be wiped to apply the updates, which goes for any server.

Hey guys,
I’m upgrading the server to double memory to prevent what happened recently with the world becoming too large. The mods and features will be the same. The only changes will be a wipe and a new IP. I’m sorry about this, but there’s two things I wanna say,
1.) Every time Rust updates, the server needs to be wiped and reset, that goes for any server.
2.) If I don’t do this upgrade, rollbacks are going to be everyday.
So anyways, I’m sorry but this new server should be better since I can avoid the mistakes I made the first time around. I’ll keep posting updates on here.
